New Pets
We always schedule a double appointment for the
first visit of a new puppy or kitten to the surgery. This is to allow enough time for the pet to be examined, its vaccination programme to be planned and for the vet to help out with any problems the owners may have. If you and your pet get off on the right foot there will be many happy, healthy years ahead for both of you.
Weight Clinics
Like humans, some pets can put on an extra few pounds!
As with humans, this can have certain health implications.
The nurses are here to provide advice, support and encouragement on types of food and weight loss programme for your pet.

Puppy Parties
Our main aim at the Puppy Parties is to socialise your puppy during their initial vaccination phase. We cover topics such as house-training, dental care, worming and neutering. The most important part is making sure that your puppy has a good time and finds the whole experience fun. Please ask any fo the nurses for more information.
Dental Care
A major part of pet ownership is dental care. This is often overlooked by many owners. The nurses can discuss dental care from toothbrushing to dental diets. We recommend regular dental checks - every 3 months. Remember, prevention is better than cure!
Lost and Found Pets
If you have lost a pet you should contact all veterinary practices in the local area, the SSPCA, and Munlochy Animal Aid. If you have found a pet, it is best to contact the SSPCA or to take it to the nearest veterinary practice to have it scanned to check if it is microchipped.
Neutering
As a practice, we advise neutering as un-neutered animals can develop certain health and/or behavioural problems as they grow older. It also helps with avoiding unwanted pregnancies!
Senior Pets
Senior Clinics are run on Tuesdays and Wednesdays for dogs over 8 years old and cats over 9 years old. They are done at the same time as your dog's booster vaccination. It involves an extended consultation, examination and health questionnaire with a vet and a nurse. Blood tests and urine tests will be run to check for kidney disease, diabetes, liver damage, cholestorel and urinary tract disease. Further tests can be arranged if necessary.
Bereavement
Inevitably the time will come when your pet will have to leave you. Inshes Vets hope that we can make this sad event as bearable as possible. We use Elysian Fields for all private and routine cremation. Please contact us for further details.
